ABOUT ME

Mar'Kata Rhaimes

I'm a Computer Science graduate from Makerere University (Kampala - Uganda).

I'm also proud to be a self-published poet, spoken word artiste, writer, orator, aviation freak, tech-lover and foodie.

In June 2018, I co-authored and was the General Editor of a Bible fun-fact book titled "God Is Humorous", written by Henry Waisswa Ntende (a lawyer, pastor and team leader at The Worship House, Nansana - Kampala, Uganda) . I also co-authored with 7 other writers in a poetry-and-prose anthology titled "The River Banks", published in Kampala - Uganda, under a writers' initiative called PENit, in August 2016. I've since managed to feature on several performance-poetry and Christian youth event platforms in and around Kampala, and I've been performing spoken word poetry under different poetry groups like PENit, Ladu Poetry, Wordsmiths UG, The Brush, and currently Engelo420. Lately I started attempting to add motivational speaking, song writing and music recording onto my literary career.

When my glare is not stuck onto a laptop or smartphone screen, I'm either hanging out with old friends and/or acquaintances, laughing at another silly joke crafted by one of my 2 young brothers, melting off a long week's heavy heart with a Friday-evening 10km-run, fantasizing about the future or my secret crush, or just quietly figuring out what to do next with my time.

I not only enjoy watching fellow poets perform their craft, but I'm also bigly into watching motivational videos and TED Talks. I'd fall for any sentimental song without minding what genre it actually falls under. Often times also, I find myself very curious about Ethical Hacking, Aviation and Navy Seal training.

I'm currently working on two other projects, one of which is still a poetry collection that I'm co-writing with my best friend. Fingers crossed!
